The new Education Arcade at this year’s Annual Meeting will use four games to combine fun and education.
The games will help attendees connect and engage with the meeting in new ways while highlighting some of the ACOG educational materials available to members. The heart of the Education Arcade will be in the Sails Pavilion in the convention center. The Sails Pavilion also will house the ACOG Bookstore and the CME booth, making it one of the busiest locations at this year’s Annual Meeting.
However, some of the arcade-related fun reaches beyond the pavilion. Here’s a list of the games available this year:
Squares is a twist on the classic “musical chairs” game from childhood. Up to 20 attendees will play on a 20-feet-by-20-feet square with four quadrants. The multiple-choice questions will appear on a large monitor, and participants will have to move to a square with the correct answer. Winning players will have to know the answers quickly.
Games will take place from 11:40 to 11:55 am and 12:20 to 12:35 pm Saturday, 10:15 to 10:30 am and 3:15 to 3:30 pm Sunday and 11:40 to 11:55 am and 12:20 to 12:30 pm in the Education Arcade in the Sails Pavilion.
Attendees can test themselves at the pinball-inspired PROLOG Games stations. Players can pick from four different types of challenges, including a timed challenge and a marathon answering mode. These games are built on the Quiz Mode for PROLOG, the self-directed learning tool and reference guide for obtaining up-to-date specialty information that’s voluntary and confidential.
PROLOG Games are available Saturday through Monday in the Educational Arcade in the Sails Pavilion and also in the ACOG booth in the Exhibit Hall Sunday through Monday.
Those waiting for a session to start can engage their brains and join with peers during this challenge available in selected colloquia and clinical seminar session locations.
Participants can use their smartphone or tablet to answer five multiple-choice questions that will be displayed in the room. Top scores from the room will be displayed at the end of the session.
Those with an interest in the history of ACOG and ob-gyn will enjoy this game. ACOG is bringing some of the items from its history museum, located at ACOG headquarters in Washington, D.C., to San Diego. Those items will be on display in the ACOG booth in the Exhibit Hall from Sunday through Monday.
After browsing the artifacts, attendees can then answer questions about the items or ACOG history.
