The president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, United Kingdon, will present this year’s Howard Taylor International Lecture.
Lesley Regan, MD, DSc, FRCOG, will talk about “Towards SDG5 – Can We Achieve Gender Equality by 2030” from 3:40 to 4:30 pm Saturday in Ballroom D.
Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG5) calls for the achievement of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls. It’s one of 17 SDGs adopted by U.N. members three years ago as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“It’s going to be a wonderful lecture,” said ACOG President Haywood L. Brown, MD, FACOG. “Everybody should come to hear this global perspective on women’s health around the world.”
Prof. Regan is the 30th President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. When she took the role in 2015, she became only the second woman to ever hold this role and the first in 64 years.
