San Diego City Tour with Old Town

San Diego, the second largest city in California, is filled with rich history, world-class attractions, beautiful beaches and bays, and charming, eclectic neighborhoods. Board a deluxe motor coach, sit back and relax as your knowledgeable tour guide takes you through the famous sites of San Diego. From Old Town, to the Gaslamp Quarter, one of San Diego’s most eclectic areas, to the magnificent “island” of Coronado, this tour will provide you with a taste of it all.

Visit Old Town, the birthplace of California, on a self guided walking tour that will take you past many historic venues. Replicas of old artifacts and recreations of historic buildings in Old Town State Historic Park offer a glimpse back in time. Then stroll through the Victorian style Heritage Park to admire the historic houses, all of which were moved here by the Save Our Heritage Organization in an effort to restore the beautiful architecture.

Whether you’ve been to San Diego before or not, this is a great way to immerse yourself in the California culture and learn about the many facets that make up this peaceful paradise of a city.

Gaslamp Quarter Walking Tour

From booming to dilapidated and back to flourishing, the Gaslamp Quarter has gone through many transformations. On this narrated walking tour, you’ll get a glimpse of the Victorian architecture of some of the oldest buildings in town, view fine art galleries, eclectic cafes and restaurants, all while hearing tales of the Quarter’s colorful history. Visit the William Heath Davis house, the oldest wooden structure in downtown San Diego and later home to Alonzo Horton, the San Diego’s “founder.” The tour ends at the Horton Grand Hotel where you will enjoy a classic English afternoon tea with refreshments.

Wine and Chocolate Pairing

Coronado Walking Tour

Rich in history, natural beauty and a charming ocean village atmosphere, Coronado is most deserving of its royal ‘nickname’ – the Crown City. Bordered by the Pacific Ocean, Glorietta Bay and San Diego Bay, this picturesque seaside city is linked to the Southern California coastline and the city of San Diego by the graceful and stately San Diego Coronado Bridge, and to the south by a narrow strip of land known as the Silver Strand.

Enjoy Coronado’s beautiful architecture and colorful history during a narrated walking tour. Beginning at the Hotel del Coronado’s clock tower, ‘The Del,’ more than 100 years old, sits on one of the most beautiful beaches along the Pacific Ocean. Her guest book reads like a ‘Who’s-Who’ history book and has been the setting for many famous movies.

Next, visit Wallis Simpson’s home (the Duchess of Windsor); the home of Frank Baum, author of the ‘Wizard of Oz’; the sugar magnate John Spreckels’ Mansion; and other notable celebrities. Time is allowed to browse among the quaint shops, cafes and galleries along Orange Avenue or to take a stroll along the sandy beach, the best seashell beach in San Diego. Whatever the choice, exploring the island is a relaxing way to spend the day.

Camp ACOG welcomes infants from 6 months of age through teens of 15 years. A $20.00 non-refundable administrative fee guarantees your child’s place in Camp ACOG. The on-site activity center is offered for children ages 6 months – 5 years of age for $5.00 per hour per child. Off-site youth tours are offered to those ages 6 years and older for an additional $40.00 per child. Lunch is included for those enrolled on off-site tours.

Camp ACOG hours are:

  • Friday, May 5 – 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
  • Saturday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 9 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

LUNCH: Lunch is included for those enrolled on off-site tours. Lunch may be purchased in advance for the onsite activity center at an additional $15.00.

Camp ACOG is proud of its camper/ counselor ratio, so please be as specific as possible with regard to drop off and pick up times so that we can ensure our high-standard of staffing. Extended childcare is available for children in need of supervision before or after camp hours, so please indicate any additional time needed in the pre/post tour space.

Deadline for early registration is April 10, 2017. Space is limited, so please plan ahead! “Any registration form received after that date will be processed on a space-available basis, and will be charged an additional $5.00 per child/ per day for camp, and an additional $10.00 per child per tour. No-shows will not receive refunds.

Youth Tour #1- “Tall Ships and Midway”

Ahoy mates! Today we will take trip to the San Diego Maritime Museum and the Tall Ships where we will get to experience a little about sea life. We’ll open a window into history with exhibits, ship models, demonstrations and interactive activities for all.

These children will participate in “Hot and Steamy”, a special program where they will have the opportunity to climb inside one of the oldest working steam engines aboard the 1898 steam ferryboat Berkley. They will learn about steam engines with interactive exhibits and then have the opportunity to power and race their own small steamboats that they take home.

Next we will visit the famous Midway Carrier. Prepare yourself for a lifetime memory aboard the Midway. You’ll explore a floating city at sea and relive nearly 50 years of world history aboard the longest serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century.

Balboa Park is the world’s largest urban cultural park.

Within its boundaries lies the famous San Diego Zoo where a world of fun and discovery awaits us. Here, you can see the pandas chomping on shoot and see some of the 4,000 rare birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians that dwell in beautiful natural settings.

Along with 100 acres of award-winning gardens, exhibits like Gorilla tropics, Hippo Beach, Tiger River, and Polar Bear Plunge illustrate different regions of the globe. In Tiger River, the petting zoo and animal shows are guaranteed to inform and entertain, and Camp ACOG will do it all in style. Take a walk on the wild side! Lunch is included.

Youth Tour #4- “Belmont Park”

Enter the exciting Belmont Park to experience countless rides with twists turns, bumps, and spins! This beachfront park offers fun rides like Bumper Cars, roller coasters, teacups, and more. There are also plenty of arcade games to keep you busy.

We will spend our sunny spring day testing out all of the rides here and seeing for ourselves what all the fuss is about. And if you find a ride you love, go ahead and ride it again! If you don’t feel like going on one of the many rides, just soak up the sun and the beautiful beach views. Wander this historic and popular park for thrills, chills, and beachfront fun! Lunch is included.
